BBC Officially Announce Their New Drama About The Genesis Of Doctor Who, An Adventure In Space And Time

All of the rumours were true. Timed (approximately) to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who's first screening, Mark Gatiss has written a 90-minute film for BBC Two, dramatising the story of how the show came to be.

Gatiss says:

This is the story of how and unlikely set of brilliant people created a true television original. And how an actor ' William Hartnell ' stereotyped in hard-man roles became a hero to millions of children.

I've wanted to tell this story this for more years than I can remember! To make it happen for Doctor Who's 50th birthday is quite simply a dream come true.

To give you some kind of idea when you'll be able to expect this film to air, Who will turn 50 on November 23rd next year.

The title, An Adventure in Space and Time, was the original subtitle for Doctor Who, explaining to viewers just what they were in for. Of course, these days, no introduction is needed and the might as well include a Who trivia round in British cirtizenship tests.

Right, so that's one set of Doctor Who anniversary rumours tidied up' keep your eyes peeled for a new one very soon'
