Three New Short Films By Up And Coming Talent, All Starring Kevin Spacey

Image of Three New Short Films By Up And Coming Talent, All Starring Kevin Spacey

Some great, established filmmakers have made shorts over the last few years with the support of corporate sponsors. For example, Terry Gilliam's The Wholly Family and Spike Jonze's I'm Here were both paid for in full, in return for branding in the credits and some PR, and neither director was obliged in any way to reflect the corporation or their products in the film at all.

And now it's the turn of some up-and-comers. The following three short films were all subsidised by Jameson by part of their First Shot tie-in with Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street Productions. Spacey himself stars in all three films.

Well done Jameson for keeping out of the picture, as it were, and letting the filmmakers tell the stories they wanted without having to put whisky bottles in shot, or feature set scenes in swanky drinking clubs. I expect the filmmakers found the requirement of having to feature Kevin Spacey a lot easier to live with.

So, here are Benjamin Leavitt's The Ventriloquist, Aleksey Nuzhny's Envelope and Alan Shelley's Spirit of A Denture. Spacey aside, they're pretty varied.
